Sarah Williams is the Co-Director of Columbia University's Spatial Information Design Lab (SIDL). Williams specializes in the visual display of spatial information about contemporary cities and events, helping stakeholders communicate information clearly, responsibly, and provocatively.
Ms. Williams teaches at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation (GSAPP). Before becoming the Director of the Spatial Information Design Lab, she founded the Geographic Information System (GIS) Laboratory at MIT, and worked with the City Laboratory, a joint program between MIT's Media Lab and the Department of Urban Studies and Planning.
Ms. Williams has a background in Geography, Landscape/Urban Design, and Urban Planning. She has a Masters degree from MIT in City Planning and Urban Design, and a Bachelors degree in Geography and History from Clark University.
